Job Description:
This position works collaboratively with the director to provide leadership and vision for the office of Career Services; leads external engagement and employer relations strategy. The Associate Director oversees three major areas: employer relations, on-campus recruiting, and external engagement; serves in absence of the director; participates in the planning and development of Career Services and Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success policies and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve in a leadership capacity to Career Services and CELCS staff; conduct program assessment and evaluation; serve as the assistant administrator for career services; participate in business planning and annual departmental assessment.
- Accountable for the development, coordination, supervision, execution and ongoing assessment of all on-campus recruiting and employer relations.
- Utilizes data to develop, drive, execute, and assess employer strategy for department; identifies gaps and solutions in recruitment; acts as an account manager for top-tier recruiting partners and sponsors; ensures the execution of employer strategy and related deliverables by the team; oversees employer engagement tracking and data.
- Oversees comprehensive on-campus recruiting initiatives; drives new employer outreach and development; identifies and acts on new markets and opportunities for collegiate recruitment in collaboration with the director; assist director in securing sponsors.
- Oversee and initiate external initiatives and departmental programs involving faculty, alumni, and/or parents (e.g. Tiger Connections, 1869 Scholars, Fall Family Weekend/Spring Family Showcase); serve as the liaison to departments engaging with external audiences (e.g. alumni relations and development).
- Establish partnerships with external partners to develop and execute initiatives designed to enhance graduate outcomes, student experience, and recruiting relationships.
- Initiate, design, execute, and assess new programs and resources for and with employers, alumni, parents, and other external audiences.
- Assist in the administration of an alumni-student mentor platform.
- Manage faculty-related initiatives and outreach for department; develop and establish ongoing relationships within academic areas to keep faculty abreast of trends, resources, and opportunities; identify, implement, and/or facilitate faculty-employer connections.
- Provide direct supervision to an assistant director, the employer relations coordinator and other student, graduate, or professional staff as assigned.
- Participate in office-wide services to include workshops, presentations, appointments, and drop-in hours.
- Connect alumni with external resources and contacts as appropriate; identify and market-relevant opportunities; track interactions.
Additional Periodic Duties:
- Provide career coaching and guidance to alumni and students in any assigned industry areas.
- Perform the duties of the director in his/her absence; participate in strategic planning for other departments and Center functions.
- Initiate, design, coordinate, and deliver training and development for department in collaboration with the director.
- Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities to strengthen and develop skills and knowledge; maintain knowledge of recruiting trends and practices.
- Participate in mandatory and voluntary university-hosted training and development opportunities.
- Oversees financial planning and management for employer-related initiatives.
- Serve on campus committees and on special projects as assigned.
- Serve in leadership capacities for both internal and external committees and associations.
- Participate in local and regional business associations and chambers as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Required:
- Master’s degree in higher education, business, leadership, human resources, non-profit management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of full-time experience in career counseling, employer relations, student personnel, relationship development/management, or human resources.
- Experience with on-campus recruiting.
- Demonstrated effective oral, written, presentation, and basic computer application skills.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face, electronically, and by phone.
Preferred:
- 5 or more years in a career center environment.
- Supervisory experience.
- Direct experience overseeing employer recruitment or campus recruitment.
- Experience using common career services technology platforms (e.g. Big Interview, GoinGlobal, Wisr).
- Experience in assisting individuals with career planning and preparation highly desired.
- Experience utilizing a CRM (customer relationship system).
- Experience with career services data management systems (such as CSO Interface, Handshake, or Simplicity)
- Ability to establish rapport with a variety of audiences including employers, faculty, students, alumni, and other staff.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and creatively to solve problems, develop effective programs, and resolve differences.
- Ability to cultivate and expand relationships with employers in varied industries.
