Session Description:
High performers often mistake self-criticism for drive — but the inner critic isn’t fueling success, it’s quietly sabotaging it. In this keynote, Matt unpacks the hidden cost of self-criticism on performance, culture, and well-being, and introduces self-compassion as the research-backed mindset that actually sustains high achievement. Delivered with vulnerability and humor, audiences leave with practical tools to shift their inner dialogue, lead with love instead of fear, and build cultures where people thrive.
The result is more than stress relief — it’s a blueprint for resilient leadership. When leaders stop running on self-criticism and start leading from a foundation of self-compassion, they make clearer decisions, recover faster from setbacks, and create psychological safety that elevates entire teams.
Bio:
After spending seven years in corporate banking, Matt looked like he was living the dream life. Fancy job title. Big salary. Living in a high-rise apartment in downtown Chicago. He achieved everything the outside world told him would make him successful. But beneath the surface, he was deeply unhappy, disconnected, and emotionally exhausted. It wasn’t until he hit his rock bottom that he started doing the hard work: therapy, healing, and self-acceptance.
Now, as a certified coach and keynote speaker, Matt helps others do the same. His keynotes on self-compassion, emotional intelligence, and mental health are raw, inspiring, and grounded in real-world experience. Audiences leave feeling seen, supported, and equipped with real tools to create positive and lasting change in their lives.
